NATURAL WAVELENGTH
ABSTRACT RECLAIMED WOOD WALL ART
DIMENSIONS 60" WIDE X 30" HEIGHT 1.5" DEPTH
Natural Wavelength is an abstract reclaimed wood wall sculpture composed of hundreds of individually cut wood blocks arranged in a vertical rhythm. The piece explores subtle movement through tone, depth, and natural variation—creating a quiet, flowing pattern that shifts as light moves across the surface.
Built from a reclaimed wood collection curated over more than ten years, each block varies slightly in width, thickness, and grain. These small differences create a layered, mosaic-like surface that invites closer inspection while maintaining a strong overall composition from a distance.
The alternating bands of light and dark wood suggest the visual language of a wavelength—sections of compression and release that give the piece a gentle sense of motion without symmetry or repetition. Rather than relying on stain or artificial color, the work is defined entirely by the wood itself.
This piece incorporates 18 different species of reclaimed wood, resulting in a broad spectrum of natural tones. Species include Black Walnut, White Oak, Red Oak, White Ash, Beech, Hickory, Sycamore, Maple, Cedar, Elm, Fir, Cherry, along with six reclaimed Asian wood species. All color present in the piece is natural, shaped by time, exposure, and use.
